Why Should I Give You My Money?

sell yourself

Whether you run your own business, or you're a sales rep working for one, this question is equally important.

In every interaction with a potential customer, this is essentially the question they are asking you.

Why should I give you my money? What value are you offering me? What makes you different from the dozens of other guys lined up behind you who also want my money?

Well? What's your answer?

For most industries, the competition has never been more intense. The internet has leveled the playing field. The little fish can now more readily compete with the big fish. How you present yourself and your business makes all the difference in the world.

So how do you do that effectively? How do you stand out from the masses?

Know yourself.

Know who you are, what your skills are, what you excel at, and what you need to improve. If you don't know any of this, how can you sell yourself effectively?

Be better.

Look at your competitors. What are they doing? Analyze their strategies, figure out why their customers love them, then be better.

They offer a quick turnaround? Be faster. They are super knowledgeable? Be smarter. They have the best quality products? Make better stuff.

You need to give customers a reason to go with you instead of them. Be better, and they will have no problem doing that.

Be different.

What are your competitors missing? What problems do your customers need solved, but aren't receiving at the moment?

If you truly know your industry, you will almost always be able to find a customer experience hole that needs filling. A problem that you can readily solve for people. If you don't see one, look harder.

All of this takes a great amount of time and effort, but the rewards will be more than worth it. 95% of people aren't willing to work this hard to be successful, so be the 5% that are.

Then, I'll be happy to give you my money.
